What is First Look, and how is it different from the enquiry list?

First Look is a $100 non-refundable deposit for households that already know a Sphynx is coming. You receive pairing notes and expected-kitten updates, and you choose first when a litter arrives. The amount is credited if you reserve a kitten with us. The enquiry list is free, and we come to it after First Look families have chosen.

How long is the wait for a Sphynx kitten?

It depends on the litter and on what you are looking for. Small catteries plan a few litters a year, so a wait of several months is normal and a cattery with kittens always in stock is worth a second look.

What age do your kittens go home?

Never before twelve weeks. Kittens leave when they are eating well, litter trained, socialised and confident, which is usually between twelve and sixteen weeks.

We do not send a kitten to someone we have never spoken to. Travel is arranged case by case after a video call and a signed contract, with the kitten's welfare deciding the method.

What is included in the price of a kitten?

Socialisation, parents whose health is our number one priority (including DNA testing for 40+ genetic predispositions), a written contract covering health and desexing, a lifetime take-back promise and a care handover. Vaccination and desexing status at collection is confirmed in writing for each kitten. A First Look deposit is credited toward that price if you reserve with us.

How availability works here

We are deliberately small, so there is rarely a shelf of kittens to choose from. Litters are planned around the queens rather than around demand. Pairing notes and expected kittens go first to families who have asked to be kept close. By the time a litter is visible on the grid, most of it is usually spoken for.

What goes home with a kitten

A fully socialised kitten — raised in the middle of the house, used to hands, noise, other cats, the bath and the hairdryer.
Parents whose health is our number one priority — the household is FeLV and FIV negative, HCM scanned, and DNA tested for 40+ genetic predispositions. We will show you the paperwork before you ask for it.
A written contract covering health, desexing and what happens if life changes and the cat needs to come back to us. It always can.
A care handover — what the kitten eats, how it is bathed, what its skin is like, and a phone number that still works in a year.

Vaccination and desexing status at collection depends on the kitten’s age when it leaves, and is confirmed in writing for each individual kitten rather than promised in general on a web page.

What we ask of you

We are not difficult, but we are particular. A hairless cat is an indoor cat, in a heated house, with someone around for most of the day. It will need bathing, weekly ear and nail care, and a budget that copes with routine vaccinations and preventative treatment for the next fifteen years or so. If that reads as a lot, our honest cost guide lays out the numbers before you commit to anything.

We do not sell to homes that intend to breed without health testing, and we do not send a kitten to someone we have never spoken to. A kitten is reserved only after a conversation, a look at the litter, and a signed contract. First Look is simply how some families stay close until that day.

How the process runs

A place on a list. First Look if you want pairing notes and first choice; the enquiry list if you would rather write first.
A conversation. Usually a video call, so you can see the cats and ask the awkward questions.
Matching. When a litter is on the ground, First Look families see it first. We still match temperament to household, not a number in a queue.
Reservation and contract. Only after you have met the litter and read the contract. That reservation is separate from First Look.
Going home. Kittens leave when they are ready, not when the calendar says so — never before twelve weeks.

First Look

Some households are already sure. They are not browsing. They want to know when a queen is being paired, what a litter is likely to look like, and to be in the room when the kittens are spoken for.

First Look is that list. A $100 deposit holds it. The amount is non-refundable; if you later reserve a kitten from us, it is credited toward that kitten. It does not choose a specific kitten in advance, and it does not skip the conversation.

You will hear about planned matings and expected kittens while those plans are still ours to share carefully. When a litter arrives, First Look families choose first. What remains, if anything does, is offered to the enquiry list.
