Affiliate and Editorial Disclosure
The Wrinklebottoms is a Sphynx cattery that also writes about hairless cats. Some of what we write earns money. This page explains exactly how, so you can weigh anything we recommend with that in mind.
The short version
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the retailer or brand may pay us a commission. It never costs you anything extra, and it never changes what we recommend. We are not paid to say a product is good, and nothing on this site is a review we were commissioned to write.
Amazon Associates
The Wrinklebottoms is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, The Wrinklebottoms earns from qualifying purchases.
Prices and availability on Amazon change constantly, so we never quote them in our own words — check the current price on Amazon itself. Our public list of the things the cats actually use is Our Favourite Things.
Brand and retailer programmes
We also take part in affiliate programmes run directly by brands and retailers, and through affiliate networks that administer those programmes on the brands’ behalf. Where a link is commissionable it is marked as sponsored in the page’s HTML, and the article carries a disclosure notice at the top before you reach the link.
Being in a brand’s programme gives us no say over that brand and gives the brand no say over us. Where a brand has approved us as an affiliate, we say so on the page. Where a brand simply makes something we like and there is no commercial arrangement, the link is an ordinary one and earns us nothing.
Gifted items and paid partnerships
Occasionally a brand sends a product for the cats to try, or pays for a placement. When that happens the post says so at the top, in plain words, before the content — “this is a paid partnership with…” or “some items featured were gifted to us”. A gift is not a guarantee of coverage, and a fee never buys a particular opinion. If something does not work for our cats we either say so or we do not write about it.
How we choose what to recommend
- Most of what we recommend is something we own, have owned, or buy repeatedly for a cattery of Sphynx and Donskoy cats.
- Where we have not personally used a specific model, we say what we look for instead of pretending to a verdict we have not earned.
- We do not publish claims about health outcomes that a vet would not stand behind. Anything medical is a “ask your vet” and is written that way.
- We do not accept commission on live animals. Kittens are never sold through an affiliate link, ours or anyone’s.
Advertising and tracking
We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read and which recommendations are useful, including recording when an affiliate link is clicked. Affiliate networks set their own cookies when you click one of their links, which is how a sale is attributed to us. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we are
The Wrinklebottoms is operated by Grow Unlimited LLC. Affiliate and advertising income is received by that company. If you have a question about anything on this page, or want to correct something we have written, contact us — we would rather fix it than defend it.
